One of many distinguished hotels serving as both/either a reception venue and a civil marriage license inside Stratford upon Avon is the Menzies Welcombe Hotel.

G6  2006:  The Right Honorable Dr. John Reid MP & Home Secretary of the governing Labour Party hosts the G6 2006 summit with France, Germany, Spain, Italy and Poland.

The Ettington Chase Hotel was used as a police base and all press/delegates/ministers/officials had to be cleared and then transported from Ettington Chase to Ettington Park Hotel for G6 2006 Summit.   Utilising 350 police officers and 17 forces; it was the biggest operation in the history of the Warwickshire police force.  The delegates also made the short journey into Stratford-upon-Avon to visit Halls Croft, Shakespeare's birthplace and Shakespeare's place of burial at Holy Trinity church. 

As a Home Office accredited official press photographer, John Stephens LMPA was permitted to photograph a pre-dinner interview for TV central news at Warwick Castle and the scheduled Press Conference the following day.
